Larson SEi 210 Ski 'n Fish: Quick-Change Artist
Larson SEi 210 converts as family interests evolve
November 12, 2001
Converting a family runabout to a fishing boat can be as difficult as changing your teenager's hairstyle. But some companies make it easy. Larson's SEi 210 Ski 'n Fish could make your son wear a crewcut.
The 20-foot 6-inch SEi changes from a speedy, reliable ski boat to fishing mode and back in just minutes. To be sure, it offers essential angling features such as a tackle locker and livewell as well as wide chines for stability at rest. Sterndrive models retain a full-width transom platform.
The 2002 SEi 210 features parent company Genmar's proprietary VEC construction. The Virtual Engineered Composites process is an automated, closed-mold system that creates a hull with a level of precision not achievable with traditional open-mold fiberglass construction, according to company statements. This precision method assures that all components — from seats to the dash panel — fit precisely on each boat. VEC boats are tough, quiet and ride with less vibration. Hulls are backed by a lifetime limited warranty that is transferable to the next owner.
All of Larson's Ski 'n Fish models have sport interiors — bucket seats forward and a full bench seat aft. The outboard seating positions of the bench are lift-out fishing seats that fit on pedestals fore and aft. To begin fishing mode, snap off the sunpad over the aft deck to reveal a skid-resistant fiberglass deck with livewell and tackle locker.
The carpet-covered forward fishing position is created by flipping the seat cushions and adding a filler panel. A control panel on the bow includes a volt meter, livewell aerator switch, drive tilt switch, battery charger and selector switches, plus and outlet for an optional electric trolling motor (included in an optional package with a fish finder.) Rod holders and battery trays are standard equipment; an on-board battery charger is an option.
The SEi 210 Ski 'n Fish is available in sterndrive (135-hp Volvo Penta or Mercruiser base power) and outboard (rated for 150 hp) models. For more information, visit www.larsonboats.com or call (800) 452-4834.
